The participation of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 has become a topic of major discussion. According to reports, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has not yet received any official confirmation from Rohit regarding his availability for the domestic one-day tournament. The event is set to take place from December 25 to January 18 across four major cities — Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur, and Bengaluru.

An MCA official stated, “As of now, there has been no formal communication from Rohit Sharma about playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.” This lack of clarity has raised several questions, especially after BCCI’s recent directive emphasizing the importance of domestic cricket for senior players aspiring to represent India in future ODI series.

Earlier reports suggested that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been advised by the BCCI to participate in domestic tournaments if they wish to be considered for the 2027 ODI World Cup. However, Rohit’s silence has fueled speculation about his future plans and commitment toward domestic cricket.

Rohit Sharma is currently training at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Bandra-Kurla Complex alongside young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Despite being one of India’s most successful ODI batters, his non-committal stance towards domestic tournaments has left fans and selectors uncertain about his next move.

With the Vijay Hazare Trophy just weeks away, all eyes are on Rohit Sharma’s decision. If he skips the tournament, it could have significant implications for his future in India’s ODI setup and raise further doubts about his international roadmap.
