Ganguly said that Shami has been performing well in domestic cricket and has shown he is fully fit. According to him, ignoring a proven match-winner despite strong form is not the right call.

He also highlighted that the combination of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami can once again become India’s strongest pace attack. Ganguly insisted that Gambhir should trust this trio in upcoming Test series.

The former captain added that India need a solid five-day bowling plan on good pitches, and Shami’s reverse swing and consistency could play a major role. He believes experience is essential in big Test matches.

Ganguly concluded by saying that Shami still has “plenty to offer” and deserves a fair chance. His statement has renewed debate over whether the selectors should recall the star fast bowler for future Test assignments.
